when the rain is falling
among the autumn leaves
orange in hue
green but a memory
not remembered in the somber recess
of my soul
cast in clay
pottery shards glued together
as if it was meant to be
but no
it is not what my heart had hoped
my imagination dreamed large
the portrait
now small
with monochrome distaste
where desperation's lost
in nothingness
bland beyond gray
wet only where thirst once ran
parched but numb
what can be done
at least in today's miileu
with rain falling with the leaves
and there is no care
