O Word of God, open my lips;
and my mouth will proclaim your praise.
Praise be to God̶̶—Holy, Holy and Mighty, Holy Immortal One.
God's most holy Name be praised.
O God, make speed to save us.
Make haste to help us, O God.
Prayer Of Preparation
Almighty and Loving God
to You all hearts are open,
all desires known,
and from You no secrets are hid:
Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts
by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit,
that we may perfectly love you,
and worthily magnify your holy Name;
through Christ our Reconciler and Redeemer.
Songs For Noonday
I lift my eyes to the mountains—
from where will my help come?
My help comes from YHWH,
who made heaven and earth!
The Holy, Holy and Mighty, Holy Immortal One,
won’t let our footsteps slip:
our Keeper never sleeps.
the Protector of Israel
will never slumber, never sleep!
YHWH is our Defender;
YHWH is our shade:
with God by our side,
the sun cannot afflict us by day,
nor the moon at night.
YHWH, the Guardian, guards us from harm,
guards our lives.
YHWH guards our leaving
and our coming back,
now and forever.
When YHWH brought us captives back to Zion,
we thought we were dreaming!
Our mouths were filled with laughter then,
our tongues with songs of joy.
And from the nations we heard,
“Their God has done great things for them.”
Yes—YHWH has done great things for us,
and we are filled with joy.
Now set our captive hearts free, O YHWH!
Make them like streams in the driest desert!
Then those who now sow in tears
will reap with shouts of joy;
those who go out weeping as they
carry their seed for sowing
will come back with shouts of joy
as they carry their harvest home.
Psalm 104: 13-19, 24-30, 33-34
O God how many are your works.
In wisdom you made them all.
You set the earth on its foundations,
so that it shall never be shaken.
The earth is satisfied with the fruit of your work.
You cause the grass to grow for the cattle,
and the plants for people to use.
To bring forth food from the earth,
wine to gladden the human heart,
and bread to strengthen the human heart.
You have made the moon to mark the seasons;
the sun knows its time for setting.
The earth is full of your creatures.
Yonder is the sea, great and wide,
creeping things are innumerable there,
living things, both great and small.
We all look to you to give us food in due season.
When you give to them they gather it up;
when you open your hand, they are filled with good things.
When you hide your face, they are dismayed;
when you take away their breath, they die.
When you send forth your spirit,
they are created and you renew the face of the earth.
I will sing to the YHWH as I live;
I will sing praise to my God while I have being.
May my meditation be pleasing
for I rejoice in God, my Maker,
Defender, and Keeper.
Almighty God, who at noonday called your servant
Saint Paul to be an apostle to the Gentiles:
We pray you to illumine the world with the radiance of your glory,
that all nations may come and worship you;
for you live and reign for ever and ever.
O God, in whom there is perfect compassion and mercy:
help me to be fully alive in this afternoon.
May I engage with your promises for me
and walk forwards without fear into all you have for me.
Always-Loving God, thank you for the morning,
for watching over me and walking with me.
May I find rest and peace this afternoon in all I do,
that I may gather strength to work for you until nightfall.
Blessed is God
and blessed is God's Kin-Dom
