CRUCIFORM

Matthew 5:17-18, 7:12, 22:37-40
"Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one letter, not one stroke of a letter, will pass from the law until all is accomplished ... In everything do to others as you would have them do to you; for this is the law and the prophets ... You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."

CRUCIFORM

Romans 8.2-5
The law of the Spirit—the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus—has freed you from the law of sin and death. What the Law was powerless to do because human nature made it so weak, God did—by sending the Only Begotten in the likeness of sinful flesh as a sin offering, thereby condemning sin in the flesh. In this way, the just demands of the Law could be fulfilled in us, who live not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.  Those who live according to the flesh have their mind set on the things of the flesh; those who live by the Spirit, on things of the Spirit.

WEEKS IV

Psalm 119:72
The law of your mouth is better to me than thousands of gold and silver pieces.

Psalm 119:92
If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my misery.

Psalm 119:97
Oh, how I love your law! It is my meditation all day long.

Psalm 119:142
Your justice is an everlasting justice, and your law is the truth.

Psalm 119:165
Great peace have those who love your law; nothing can make them stumble.

CRUCIFORM

Galatians 5-19-26
It's obvious what proceeds from the flesh: lewd conduct, impurity, licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, arguments, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish rivalries, dissensions, factions, envy, drunkenness, orgies and so forth. I warn you as I have warned you before: those who do these sorts of things won't inherit the kindom of God! By contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patient endurance, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against these sorts of things there is no law! Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified their ego, with its passions and desires. So since we live by the Spirit, let us follow her lead. We must stop being conceited, contentious and envious.

TRINITY

Holy God, Holy and Mighty, Holy Immortal One: Come!
Holy God, Holy and Mighty, Holy Immortal One: Come!
Holy God, Holy and Mighty, Holy Immortal One: Come!

INVITATORY

O Adonai, God of the Covenant, ruler of the house of Israel, you appeared to Moses in the fire of the burning bush and on Mount Sinai gave your law. Forgive us when we stray from your guidance and will. Come and redeem us for our life together. Have mercy upon us, O God, Have mercy.

Loving God, you have destined us not for wrath but for obtaining salvation through our God Jesus Christ: strengthen your Church to confidently share your gospel throughout the world. Have mercy upon us, O God, Have mercy.

Compassionate God, have mercy on all who are shown contempt and scorn: Hear the cries of the needy and lift up the downtrodden and lowly. Have mercy upon us, O God, Have mercy.

Holy God, you rule the day and the night: Bless and sustain the works of your hands. Restore your creation. Have mercy upon us, O God, Have mercy.

Sovereign God, you are enthroned in the heavens: may we trust not our own schemes but lift up our eyes to you. Lead and guide our city and its leaders in all justice and truth. Have mercy upon us, O God, Have mercy.

Gracious God, you are a merciful God: hear the prayers of those who cry out to you for help. Be present with the suffering in their waking and their sleeping. Have mercy upon us, O God, Have mercy.

CROSS

Psalm 119:174
I long for your salvation, O God, and your law is my delight.

Blessed are you and blessed is your Kin-Dom, now and forever. Amen.
